Where REAL Music Talks
‘Use My Body’ By Meg Lawrenson
Words: A. Murray.
Meg Lawrenson is flying high with her new release ‘Use My Body’. A track which stands out to me with plenty of colours and enough sounds to give it a broad reach in the ever-improving music industry.
Musically it reminds of a band who I used to love years ago called ‘Air Traffic’. For me, I can hear an American influence within her music. So much so she even uses American slang within sections including the term ‘Booty’. It is reminiscent vocally of Hayley from Paramore, but also she has an original country vocal sound similar to what you may expect from Taylor Swift.
She speaks about making up excuses to see a loved one. Her poetic tongue is shining brightly with plenty of clever hooks which resonate well. Also, she has a knack for switching up her style within her delivery, and she does it correctly on ‘Use My Body’. For me, it is quite an emotional release, and we hear the artist sing passionately about her relationship encounters.
‘Use My Body’ takes on a different vibe to her previous releases, including ‘Nicotine’. All have plenty of elegance, but this one has a lot more energy within its indie sound. Also, her previous tracks appear to be more solemn while this one boasts a more feel-good vibe with its upbeat tempo. One thing though which remains consistent is the singer’s ability to churn out a powerful vocal. She sings with her all, and I cannot fault her approach one bit.
But, is it a prototype of this genre? Probably not but she has taken what works so well from other musicians and added her own slant, it makes for a great listen.
