‘When I Think’ Ervin Munir
Words: A. Murray.
Norfolk-based folk singer-songwriter Ervin Munir returns with his third studio album, “When I Think,” and honestly… it’s one of those records that quietly grabs hold of you and doesn’t let go.
Now out, the 11-track collection feels deeply personal yet beautifully expansive. From the tender opening of “Lifeline” to the reflective closer “Live And Learn,” Ervin invites us into his world with lyrics that feel almost secretive, like pages torn from a diary at 2am. There’s something incredibly intimate about the way he writes; it’s vulnerable without ever feeling heavy.

The title track, “When I Think,” is especially moving. It captures that ache of memory and reflection so effortlessly, and knowing the album is dedicated to his late producer and close friend, Aeron Z Jones, adds an extra emotional weight that lingers long after the final note fades. You can feel the love and history woven into every melody.
Musically, the album flows between delicate, piano-led moments and richer, guitar-driven swells that add just the right amount of edge. Standouts like “Rainfall Memories,” “I Don’t Care,” and “One Step Beyond” show the breadth of Ervin’s vision, tender, reflective, but quietly powerful.
