Concrete Club return with real intent on their latest single “People Like Us,” released via Emu Bands, a track that feels sharp, urgent, and completely unfiltered.

Right from the outset, the song locks you in with a slick, funky indie guitar riff that’s impossible to ignore. It’s the kind of opening that instantly sets a tone, cool, confident, and full of movement. As the drums punch through and the synths slide into place, there’s a clear sense of build, but nothing quite prepares you for the arrival of Rowetta’s vocals. When they hit, they hit hard, powerful, commanding, and emotionally loaded, elevating the track into something far more intense than its opening moments suggest.

Musically, Concrete Club are operating in a space where post-punk grit meets modern indie polish. It’s a balance they handle well, pulling influence from Manchester’s rich musical heritage while still sounding fresh and current. The groove is a standout tight, hypnotic, and effortlessly pulling you along—while subtle production details, especially in the synth work, give the track a layered, immersive feel.

The lineup—Jonny Brewster (vocals), Kallum Delf (guitar), Mark Demuth (bass), and Jamie Butterworth (synths)—deliver a sound that feels cohesive and well-honed, while the addition of Rowetta and drummer Jonny McGill injects a fresh dynamic that pushes the track even further.
