‘Sun Come And Shine’ Jennifer Porter
Words: A. Murray.
Jennifer Porter’s latest CD, ‘Sun Come And Shine,’ is a joy to listen to from the outset. The record is fantastic, and it is already a clear favourite among our staff. It also doesn’t take a genius to figure out why we’re becoming blues-rock advocates for the Maine native.
Jennifer also collaborates with some of the industry’s biggest stars, like Bernard Purdie, and everyone who contributes to this tune adds a level of quality that makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.
The album opens with the lead track, ‘Sun Come And Shine,’ which features Jennifer’s lovely vocal delivery. Her voice is pleasant and endearing right away. It also raises the bar for the rest of the album, which does not disappoint.
‘Show Me Your Love’ follows, and, like the opening, it is graceful, providing an escape from the craziness of the current world. It has a soulful depth to it, and Jennifer’s melody is captivating. So much so that I’ll be amazed if you can get away from it once it opens.
The exquisite ‘Satin Shoes’ arrives a few songs in, and it delights the ears with a gentle story of early existence.
When we get to ‘In And Out With You,’ though, the aura changes. Furthermore, Jennifer’s signature blues sound receives the attention it deserves as the guitar rips through the mix alongside a shuffle percussion beat.
With ‘I’ll Be Here,’ the album draws to a close, summing up the collection with memorable flavours. It’s lovely, and it makes us want to hit replay for another fix.
